 Testimonials:

My Dog; Tizanne and I thoroughly enjoy our training sessions with John.  He is so welcoming and non threatening.  He puts you straight at your ease as soon as you meet him.  John not only gives me invaluable professional gun dog training but also he gives very down to earth answers into dog behaviour.  John enjoys Tizzy’s achievements as much as I do, he has faith in her and gives me faith to have confidence in my own ability to handle her in the way I want her to work.  It is a wonderful feeling when your dog is doing what is asked of it, I never thought I would be achieving what I am with Tizzy, I would not have been able to do this without John’s patient yet thorough training – Thank – you.

Often in the shooting field I will see a good peg dog, or one belonging to a picker-up.  Speak to the owner and the chances are that it is one that John has trained.  He trained Ben, my English Springer, about 7 years ago – and apart from my failures, the dog is still as biddable in the field.  John is quietly spoken and this shows in the skill and expertise in training which does not just relate to the sporting dogs, but also to obedience training of family pets.  John is to dogs what the Horse Whisperer Is to horses!
I would strongly recommend him to any dog owner.

I have attended Johns puppy training classes and found them very rewarding.  John believes in training the owner as much as the dog, so that as an owner you are able to get the best out of your dog, and so that you can try and think ahead of your dog to anticipate problems before they happen.  He has a calm and gentle manner with dogs and people alike and seems to manage to get the best out of both at each session.  I have been more than happy with my Labradors behaviour, and this is due to no small part to Johns patience and encouragement to keep working on the basics he has taught.  He has also constantly surprised me with what I can achieve with my dog, giving me confidence in mine and my dogs capabilities.

To Mr John Clark, Campcolis gundogs

Dear John,

Thank you for your recent help at our annual gundog competition, we all very much appreciated having a professional trainer involved in the assessment of the various merits, or more likely, demerits of our assorted working dogs.

Having spoken to several of our members afterwards I noticed a real “buzz” of excitement among the competitors much more so than usual, this is probably in no small part due to the help and advice you were able to give to each competitor when they were at the start point. All those concerned appreciated this advice. Likewise the organising committee much appreciated your comments and advice on the layout and running of the event.

Thank you once more, the event has proven so successful we will definitely hold it again next year; I hope that you may be able to find space in your diary to judge again for us.

Yours sincerely,

Kenn Ball. Hon Sec, N.w.a.

Dear John,
Just thought I would send you a thank you note following the recent training sessions I   attended with Meg my Springer Bitch.
I found the sessions most use full and informative, I also found your style of training most conducive to learning, very relaxed and non threatening. Both Meg and myself were quite surprised at how much she learnt and how quickly, this is no doubt down to you and your excellent facilities. I shall not hesitate to recommend you to my friends.

    Yours sincerely Kenn Ball.

I have trained with several professional gundog handlers in the North of England, and have found that the kind and thoughtful approach and knowledge in handling Labradors, used by John Clark, have brought out the best in myself and success for my dogs both in competition and in their working life.

John Clark,

What can I say about John Clark?

I spoke to him on the phone one evening asking for help with a wayward young Pointer.  This very quietly spoken man told me he knew nothing about Pointers – He was a Labrador/Spaniel man.

I’d always told friends to keep their Pointers well away from Retriever trainers because they might not understand Pointers!

I explained that I didn't’t need help in training a Pointer for work (I’d shared my life with Pointers for more than 30 years and owned, trained and handled two Field Trial winners, but I now had a young dog who was breaking me in that he and I seemed incapable of  relating to one another.  “Havoc” treated me with disdain and I’d never encountered this before.  I simply wanted this dog to relate to me.

I went to John’s first training class with an open mind.  I can honestly say that in those two hours, I learned more about dogs than I’d learned in 30 years of owning them.

John’s lovely wife Dot didn't’t bat an eyelid when I said I’d like to marry him!!!

This man has a magic touch with dogs and thanks to John “Havoc” is now becoming mine!

I own a lively German Short-haired Pointer. Although he is a family pet first and foremost  I wished to develop his natural ability to hunt, point and retrieve. John has been an excellent trainer due to his honesty and his ability to set realistic goals. At our one-to-one sessions he provides concise background information, tips mid session to improve technique and a review with constructive feedback - plus homework! I trust his judgment completely and find his knowledge on the working of dogs in general quire outstanding.

I try to train my dogs myself, not perhaps always successfully, but I know that if a problem arises John Clark is always there to help.  No electric collars or heavy hand, just patience and common sense and a lot of know how.
